Blackberry Dakota with Touchscreen & QWERTY Keypad: Leaked Photos and Specs

There hasn't been much news from RIM apart from their Playbook lately, but today, the new leaked images and specs of the new Blackberry Dakota as reported by BGR has enough features to grab the attention of die-hard Blackberry fans. For starters, the Dakota has a 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen that packs 640x480 pixels (VGA resolution) while still keeping a full-fledged QWERTY keyboard.

Corporate users will also be happy to know that the smartphone offers a 5 megapixel camera with HD video recording. If you think the touchscreen addition would cut out the much-loved trackpad, fret not, the Dakota offers an optical trackpad.

It is not just about the VGA touchscreen and the 5 mega pixel camera for the Blackberry Dakota, there is a healthy list of decent specs under its hood. It has 4GB of internal memory and 768MB of RAM, while the processor details is not yet disclosed. There is a magnetometer, accelerometer and proximity sensor.

The Dakota is a GSM phone that comes with a 3G mobile hotspot feature plus there is a support for WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth connectivity. Like the new Google Nexus S, the Dakota will also come with NFC to let users make payment using the phone instead using credit/debit card. The Dakota will come with Blackberry OS 6.1.
