Facebook enables one-time passwords, remote logout

Facebook enables one-time passwords, remote logout

Facebook is taking steps to increase the popular social network's security. Facebook has announced two new ways to protect your Facebook account: one-time passwords and remote Facebook session logout.

After Facebook enabled security features like Login notifications and blocking suspicious logins to your Facebook account, earlier this year, it has unveiled new security options to protect your Facebook account.

Facebook One-Time Passwords:
If you're travelling and don't have access to mobile Internet, and have to login to your Facebook account from a public PC -- either in a hotel or cyber cafe, Facebook can now send you one-time password to sign into Facebook instead of your regular password.

To use Facebook one-time password, just text "otp" to 32665 on your mobile phone to receive a temporary password for your Facebook account -- keep in mind the new one-time password expires within 20 minutes. You'll also need to associate a mobile phone number to your Facebook account to make use of Facebook's one-time password feature.

Facebook remote session logout:
If you logged into Facebook from your friend's PC but forgot to logout, don't worry. Facebook now gives you the ability to sign out of multiple Facebook sessions across multiple computers. It means you can start a new Facebook session from your home PC and remotely log out of your friend's PC without physically being there in person.

You can check if you're still logged into other devices or PCs through Facebook's Account Settings and remotely log out. There you will see all your active sessions along with information about each active session.
