Tweak Gmail Priority Inbox to Include Filtered Messages

Tweak Gmail Priority Inbox to Include Filtered Messages

A couple weeks ago, Google took the wraps off Priority Inbox, a clever Gmail feature that helps separate the message wheat from the message chaff.

In a nutshell, it guesses (and learns) what mail is important to you and floats it to the top of your inbox, letting everything else settle to the bottom (or at least the middle).

Ah, but what about those messages that never land in your inbox, the ones for which you've created filters? By default, Priority Inbox gives them a miss.

But it doesn't have to be so. Here's how to tweak PI to include filtered mail:

1. Sign into your Gmail account, then click Settings.

2. Click the Priority Inbox tab.

3. In the "Filtered mail" area, enable Override filters.

4. Click Save Changes.

That's it! Now your Priority Inbox will include mail that's been filtered elsewhere.

Say, while we're on the subject, how are you liking Priority Inbox? Cool tool, or more hassle than it's worth?
