MPEG-2
The MPEG-2 Video Standard specifies the coded bit stream whose syntax is defined in the document ISO/IEC 13818 by the International Organization for Standardization for compressed representation of video and audio sequences paving for high-quality digital video. Built on the completed MPEG-1 Video Standard (ISO/IEC IS 11172-2), MPEG-2 supports interlaced video formats and also supports other advanced features like Direct Broadcast Satellite, Cable Television and HDTV.
The ATM forum issued the Video on Demand (VoD) Specification 1.0, implementing MPEG-2 over ATM as the latter supports voice, video and data simultaneously. This realization supports the transport stream MPEG coding, using AAL5 for user data and Signalling 4.0 stack for call control.
